How to Raise Mealworms and Create a Farm (Vlog)
Purchasing mealworms to treat your bluebirds (or frogs or lizards, etc.) can get expensive and I give out treats year-round. Bluebirds are a joy to watch and I’m absolutely thrilled when the parents bring the fledglings to the mealworm feeder during the summer months. They are also accustomed to a particular whistle when I put the worms out. Spoiled, huh? I’ve been doing this for years, however, I’ve recently began raising my own mealworms due to the expense and across town travel to buy them.
Below is a video of how to raise mealworms and how I have my “farm/system” set up. After several trial and error set ups, this is the one that works for me. Raising mealworms is a little time consuming but it’s easier than you think!!
